Update: Family Tree PHP 0.3.2

A new version of Family Tree PHP is available for download: version 0.3.2. This version contains some bugs fixes and some minor improvements. There is no need for exisiting users to update immediately, unless you encounter one of the fixed bugs or want to use one of the improvements.

Improvements:

  • Gedcom import via Ajax. This is a lot easier and faster.
  • Some table rows in the admin section could be expanded by hovering over it with the mouse. Now you have to click on them to expand them. A little more trouble, but it prevents the row from collapsing immediately again when sometimes expanding resizes the cell heights and brings the mouse outside the row you wanted to expand.
  • Edit languages simplified. All language settings can now be updated via one form.
  • Default template and default language can be set via edit templates and edit languages.
  • Symbols for birth, death and marriage in reports can be customized via settings or replaced by language dependent abbreviations (ex. b.,d. and m. for English).

Bug fixes:

  • On a very few servers MySql throwed errors when trying to use strings for numeric columns; this even prevented the script from being installed.
  • Emails were not UTF-8 encoded and contained html entities, which resulted in strange characters.
  • Notes and multimedia items appeared more than once in RSS feeds and on the recent updates page.

How to update:

  • Upload all files of the new version to your server.
  • Open in your browser the file ‘update.php’.
  • Follow the instructions.

If you use other template sets than the ‘Default’ template set, you also have to update these. Otherwise your site won’t work properly anymore. If you have made your own template files, you will have to edit these too.
