Update: Family Tree PHP 0.3.1

A new version of Family Tree PHP is available for download: version 0.3.1. This version contains some bugs fixes and some minor improvements. Users of version 0.3 should update as soon as possible, because there is one major bug in version 0.3 (see below).

Improvements:

  • The use of table indexes is improved. This should result in higher speed, especialy when browsing person pages.
  • This day in history: if there are no events 25, 50, 75, 100 etc years ago, all years are searched.
  • Search results can be sorted on surnames, given names, birth dates and death dates, both ascending and descending.
  • Backup module added.

Bug fixes:

  • Ajax autocomplete and ajax search for relationship and links to notes and media records did not work in Internet Explorer. This made it impossible to find relationships and to link notes and media records to persons. (This is the major bug mentioned above. I only discovered this bug yesterday when testing the new version. Apparently I did not test it sufficiently before. I did test it then, but after that, just before the release, I did some minor changes and forgot to test these in IE. Sorry. But what I don’t understand: why did nobody tell me about this bug? Or is nobody using IE anymore? Well, neither am I…)
  • Dates without a day were outputted with the month before. (Example: 2009-06-00 became May 2009.)
  • Registered users saw links to edit or delete their own comments, but could not do it.

How to update:

  • Upload all files of the new version to your server.
  • Open in your browser the file ‘update.php’.
  • Follow the instructions.

If you use other templates than the default templates, you also have to update these. Otherwise your site won’t work properly anymore. If you have made your own template files, you will have to edit these too.
