Update: Family Tree PHP 0.2

There is a new version of Family Tree PHP available for download: version 0.2. This version contains some bugs fixes and some major improvements. There is no need for exisiting users to update immediately, unless you encounter one of the fixed bugs or want to use one of the improvements.

Improvements:

  • A lot of extra Gedcom tags are supported now, including some custom tags that are only used by certain software. As a result of this more info from your Gedcom file will be imported in Family Tree PHP.
  • To make this possible, there are a lot of changes in the database. New tables have been added and new fields are inserted in existing tables.
  • You have a new option on import: you can specify if Gedcom lines with the CONC tag break on spaces (between words) or in the middle of words.
  • You can specify if children and families must be sorted as in the Gedcom file or on birth or marriage dates.
  • The interface for setting user rights is improved. There is a new setting for showing record change dates.

Bug fixes:

  • Some dates were not translated in non-English languages.
  • In some cases it was not possible to update the template settings.

How to update:

  • Rename the file ‘.htaccess’ (the old one on your server!) to ‘old.htaccess’.
  • Rename the file ‘includes/config.php’ (the old one on your server!) to ‘includes/config_old.php’.
  • Upload all files of the new version to your server.
  • Delete the new file ‘.htaccess’ and rename the old file ‘old.htaccess’ back to ‘.htaccess’.
  • Delete the new file ‘includes/config.php’ and rename the old file ‘includes/config_old.php’ back to ‘includes/config.php’.
